Actress Karthika Likes to Reprise Her Mom Radha's Roles

Karthika Nair made her debut through Tollywood movie only. But, it did not click to the expected levels. Later, she made her debut in Tamil in the movie ‘Ko’ with Jiiva. It was directed by K.V.Anand and turned out to be a superhit. Even her record in Malayalam is not bad.

Karthika likes some of the roles done by her Mom Radha in her career, which includes Radha’s role in ‘Alaigal Oiyvadhillai’ and in ‘Mudhal Mariyaadhai’.

Karthika has expressed her desire, “If by chances, these above mentioned films are remade again, then I would definitely like to perform the roles done by my Mom for sure”.

Deepika Padukone in Shankar’s next movie?

Bollywood lass Deepika Padukone, who is presently shooting for the much awaited 3D film Kochadaiyaan, has been approached by director Shankar for his forthcoming film. The rumour is that the leggy actress seems to be quite interested in the film. But the news hasn’t been confirmed yet as the talks are in its initial stages.
Though his previous film Nanban is still going strong in theaters, the Endhiran director isn’t interested in laying back and enjoying the success of the film. Instead he has started working on his next flick. The buzz around the industry is that this untitled flick might even feature Surya or Vikram.

Actor Prabhu Deva throws a big bash

Prabhu Deva has all the reasons to celebrate. After giving an awesome performance at the IPL opening, the dancing legend organised a big birthday bash for his close friends from the industry.

The party was at his palatial house and the guest list included A- listers from the industry. It’s believed that everyone let their hair down and had a rollicking time as Prabhu Deva played a gracious host.

Khushbu Sundar who was at this starry bash couldn’t stop raving about it.

She has tweeted ” Me and Sundar had dinner at our close friend Prabhu Deva’s place. What a lovely time we had ! ‘

She also added: “It’s at very few places you can be yourself. Vishal, Trisha, Vijay, Suriya ,Jeyam Ravi , Harris Jayaraj , director Shankar , Gautam Menon , Devi Sri Prasad, Vijay Antony were there too”.

Simbhu & Santhanam in New Project

Simbhu is currently busy in the works of the film ‘Vettai Mannan’, ‘Poda Podi’ and ‘Vada Chennai’. He is to fly to Macau for shooting of a song in ‘Poda Podi’. Later, he may take off to Brazil to finish the remaining portions of ‘Vettai Mannan’.

Amidst all these things, there is news that, Simbhu is teaming up with Santhanam and Nic Arts one more time. Already he is doing ‘Vettai Mannan’ for S.S.Chakravarthy’s Nic Arts. In this situation, Simbhu seems to be getting ready to do another project for Nic Arts.

There is one more special aspect for this film. Simbhu and Santhanam will be acting together after quite some time. This movie is to be directed by Debutant Vijay, who has earlier worked as Assistant Director under Amma Rajasekar.

This project is titled as ‘Vaalu’ and Thaman would be scoring the Music for it. It is a comedy mixed action film. The search for the Heroine is on. The details of the other cast and crew would be announced as and when they are finalized.

Suriya With Shruti Hassan Again

Shruti Hassan is riding high on the success of her recent release 3. The film that is released simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu has gained her incredible laurels. The actress is also actively taking part in the promotional campaigns of this film.

As a part of this film, she will be taking part as special celebrity in Vijay TV’s Neengalum Vellalaam Oru Kodi tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 8 p.m. The same pattern was followed in Hindi where special celebrities take part in the show to promote their movies.

Actor Karthi Praises Naan Ee Director

The audio launch of Naan Ee starring Nani and Samantha was launched yesterday (April 1) at Sathyam Cinemas. The event witnessed coming together of several celebrities including director Bala, Suriya and Karthi.Speaking on the occasion, Suriya said that filmmaker SS Rajamouli has done a tremendous job in all his movies and this movie is going to be a big hit.

Karthi on his turn said, “It nearly took 6 months to work on the remake of Vikramakudu for the script. Rajmouli’s movies are so inspiring and they’re always excellently entertaining.”

Naan Ee is a bilingual movie that will be simultaneously released in Tamil and Telugu titled Eega. Kannada Superstar Sudeep is playing negative role in this flick.

Actor Vikram’s role in Thandavam is out!

Vikram’s role in Thandavam is out. Yes, he plays a police officer in this film. Though it is not new to see the star as a police officer, in this film he will be seen sporting different outfits other than the police uniform.

Vikram has been seen as a police officer in a couple of films before but for Thandavam, director A Vijay has planned it out differently. His co-star in the film, Tollywood star Jagapathy Babu, also essays the role of a police officer, we hear.
The first look of Thandavam has been released amidst much expectations and we are able to decipher that it is going to be a different storyline altogether.

Gemini Films procures Mani Ratnam’s Kadal for a record price

Mani Ratnam’s much-talked Kadal has been in the news for one or the other reasons from the day it hit the floors. The latest to hear about the film is that Gemini Films has procured the theatrical rights of the upcoming Tamil movie for a record price.

If reports are to be believed, Gemini Films has acquired the rights for mammoth Rs 25 crore on a first copy basis. As the bosses of distribution felt that the film would generate the revenue, they decided to pay the whopping amount for the rights, adds a report.
Kadal features actor Karthik’s son Gautham and hot and happening Samantha. Arjun Sarja, Arvind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu are also playing important roles in the forthcoming Tamil movie. Mani Ratnam’s trusted men AR Rahman and Rajeev Menon are handling the music and cinematography department, respectively.

Actor Vijay’s Thupaki falls into Akshay Kumar’s lap

Vijay’s Thupaki might be in the shooting stage, but that has not stopped director AR Murugadoss, who has been thinking to start his second Bollywood film, from planning the Hindi version of his upcoming Tamil movie. Well, the filmmaker has reportedly convinced Akshay Kumar to star in the remake of Vijay starrer film.

The buzz is that AR Murugadoss approached Akshay Kumar recently and took his nod to act in the Hindi version of Thupaki. It is said that the Bollywood actor believed that as the story is set in Mumbai backdrop, it could work in Bollywood too. As far as the female lead is concerned, the filmmaker wants Katrina Kaif to pair up with Akki.
Meanwhile, AR Murugadoss has completed 60% of the shooting of Thupaki, which features Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the leads. The upcoming Tamil movie is expected to hit screens in August.

Actor Amitabh Bachchan in Tamil film?

Balakrishnan, the director of Mudhalvar Mahatma which was released recently is all set to move on to his next project. Mudhalvar Mahatma had Anupam Kher in a pivotal role and music by Ilaiyaraja. Activist Anna Hazare himself expressed an interest in the film and watched a special screening of it.
Now Balakrishnan wants to make a film on the India - Pakistan divide. He has approached Amitabh Bachchan for the role and apparently the Bollywood superstar is interested in the script and might give the green light for this project. Balakrishnan is keeping his fingers crossed.

‘Thupaki’: 60% over

‘Thupaki’ is getting shape really fast, one has to say. Director AR Murugadoss, who normally takes time to complete his films, is shaping up the Vijay-starrer on a fast track and 60 per cent of the shooting is over so far.
“Four songs and some talkie portions remain to be shot, which we will be doing soon,” says Murugadoss, who is planning to start the Hindi version of the movie (with Akshay Kumar in the lead), by August.
‘Thupaki’ would have been completed by this time, if there was no break in the shooting. The tussle between the producers and workers halted the shooting schedule for some time, resulting in the movie’s delay.
Being produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, ‘Thupaki’ has Kajal Aggarwal as heroine. Buzz is that Vijay is playing a police officer in this action entertainer. Music is being composed by Harris Jayaraj.

Actress Alphonsa on denial mode

A month after her lover hung himself to death in her flat, item girl Alphonsa claimed that it was failure in films and family struggle that did Vinod Kumar in.

Denying the allegations of Vinod’s parents that she and her family had killed him and camouflaged it as suicide, the actress said, ‘this is a baseless and false allegation. We have been living together very happily for the past two years.’
Stating that he played the lead in a movie called Kavasam, which was put on hold because of financial problems, she claimed that the failure in films after despite half a decade of hard work had him feeling depressed.

Record Opening weekend Collections for 3 movie !!

Aishwarya Dhanush’s debut film as director Moondru (3) has taken a very good opening all over Tamilnadu especially Chennai city.
The film according to Aishwarya who has the Chennai city rights of the film says that it netted an amazing Rs 1,16,87240 in its first three days (Mar 30, 31 and April 1).
In Chennai city’s 25 screens, 3 had taken an astonishing 97.8 percent opening, and in the suburbs which falls under Chengalpet territory from nearly 50 screens it has touched almost 95 percent, which truly is phenomenal!
The film which carried a big buzz around it opened to mixed opinion and reviews but throughout Tamil Nadu the film has taken a bumper opening.
Says Madurai Anbu the film’s distributor for Madurai area; “ 3 has taken a fantastic opening. It is the highest ever for a Dhanush film”.
But Dhanush’s critics mainly in the industry are asking the question- “Will 3 hold on to its record opening weekend collections? Can the Kolaveri man deliver a super hit?”
The producer of 3, Kastoori Raja says: “The distributors and theatre people say they will make profits by the end of the first week. Distributors who brought the film are distributing sweets people like Madurai Anbu says that the movie will get their investment back by Monday”
In Chennai, from Sathyam and Escape the film took 100% opening, the three day net is a whopping Rs 23 lakhs. A spokesperson of Sathyam Cinemas said: “The opening of 3 has been fantastic in our properties. It is one of the best openings in recent times.”

Shankar for his own movie?

Director Sankar began his career as the producer from his Muthalvan with Action King Arjun. Since then, his majority films turned out to be hits on media end. His products were Kathal, Imsai Arasan 23m Pulikesi, Veyil, Kalloori and Arai Yen 305l Kadavul, Eeram, Rettachuli and Ananthapurathu veedu.

Of these one film which had a director as the major artist made Sankar burn his fingers. As the director happened to be his mentor during his initial days, Sankar had no objection when the remuneration demanded was Rs1 crore. With the films from Kallori failed to cash in profit for Sankar he almost suspended his task for many years. However a story from the fresh director shuffled his tryst and Sankar seems to have made up his mind to resume his production stint.
Being impressed with the script and the storyline, Sankar assured the man to do the project at the right time. Will this resumption save Sankar from further fall or lead him to the same old ditch is to be seen. In the meanwhile there is a buzz that Sankar was in a mood to do the Bollywood Delhi Belly in Tamil based on the success he had with Nanban, a remake of 3 Idiots.

Anushka Shetty in Dirty Picture Remake?

The Dirty Picture produced in Hindi filled the coffers of the box office. This film was based on the life of the late actress Silk Smitha. Vidhya Balan donned the role of Silk Smitha. She got the National Award for her best acting in this film. Vidhya Balan had acted in some obscene scenes. This erupted some problems among some activists who filed cases in the court asking to ban this film. But this film was released midst all these hurdles. When the film was released Vidhya Balan was heaped with laurels. Now this film is to be remade in Tamil and Telugu languages. Anushka will be donning the role which Vidhya Balan donned in the Hindi version. Earlier Anushka had donned the role of a commercial sex worker. Her acting in Arundhati was much spoken about. Anushka has agreed to don the role of Silk Smitha and the official announcement regarding this will be made in due course.

Actor Vikram – Shankar combo once again?

They delivered a cult commercial hit, ‘Anniyan’ in 2005 and they seem to be at it again. Commercial film specialist Shankar, if sources are to be believed, will be teaming up with his ‘Anniyan’ hero Chiyaan Vikram for a project shortly.
It’s reportedly an adventure flick which will go on floors once Vikram wraps his slick action entertainer ‘Thaandavam’. Suba, that is to say Suresh and Balakrishnan are touted to pen the dialogues and Shankar is still penning the script.
Post ‘Thaandavam’ Vikram also has work on period flick ‘Karikalan’ that’s pending from a longtime now. He also has a film with his mentor Bala.
Without commenting about the cast, Shankar wrote on his microblogging page, “As I’ve started working on my next script I couldn’t be in touch with you. So far I have not finalized anyone regarding the next project. Just working on the story”.
Ever since ‘Nanban’s stupendous success, those in the trade and fans are eagerly awaiting to know whom Shankar would team up with for his next. An official announcement listing the cast and crew is expected from Shankar once he finishes penning the script.

Director Pandiraj’s next will be Comedy Romantic

Director Pandiraj’s ‘Marina’, which has won him a national award, completed 50 days last week and the number of theatres where it is screened has increased now.
Without resting on his laurels, Pandiraj has lost no time in working on his next project, which will be a romantic comedy.

He is busy writing the script for the new film and will decide on casting after the script is ready.
Referring to reports that he has roped in Vimal and Sivakarthikeyan for the film, Pandiraj maintains that he is yet to begin casting. He is one who believes in casting only after he has the complete script. “I am not still done with the script.” He could only say that the script he is working on is a two-hero subject.
Apart from writing the script for his romantic comedy flick, Pandiraj will also be writing the dialogues for a film that will be directed by Suseenthran.

Actress Sri Devi’s skimpy clothes

Women’s Organizations have condemned yesteryear heroine Sri Devi for wearing skimpy outfits. A women’s organization in Mumbai lashed out at Sri Devi for her very glamorous outfits in public functions. It is understandable when an actress dresses such a way but Sri Devi has quit acting several years ago and is the mother of two children. Her dresses create a bad example among married women and mothers, said a spokesperson of the association.
It may be mentioned here that Sri Devi is married to Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor and has two teenaged-daughters. She is looking to launch her eldest daughter Janvi in films soon.

Vijay’s Thuppakki with Hidden cameras

Vijay’s Thuppakki is over a rapid progression as the shooting schedules are getting at a jet speed. Santhosh Sivan, the master of magical visuals is creating some extraordinary shots for the film. In fact, closer sources mention that the cinematographer is making sure that the production cost is kept at a limit, by avoiding certain technical amenities.

Since major portion of the film will be shot in the busiest lanes of Mumbai, Santhosh Sivan is using hidden-camera shots.

Earlier in Suriya’s 7Aam Arivu, similar paradigms were done for the title song Oh Ringa Ringa.
